2020 Weather Sonoma Coast Chardonnay
Weather Wines’ first release of chardonnay. The 2020 Weather Sonoma Coast Chardonnay confirms this region for producing elegant and complex Burgundy varietals. The cool climate Sonoma Coast experienced a warmer 2020 summer that led to early ripening and August harvest. This lively, floral chardonnay has aromas of spring white flowers and jasmine with chamomile and butter-poached pears. On the palate, flavors of baked apple tart and lemon confit with vanilla crème brûlée. Its fresh, nimble acidity and slight minerality lend refreshing balance to the richness.
Vintage notes: Early spring rains affecting fruit set gave way to a near-perfect summer growing season in Sonoma Coast, with a relatively-early August harvest for chardonnay. Flavors are well developed with great acidity which will allow for cellaring. High quality fruit, but lower yields—down 20-30% for chardonnay.
